Special Cases segment usually signify hair transplant repairing of outdated plugs, scar fixing from previous FUT liner scars or any premature condition other than androgenic baldness that causes acute hair loss in men and women, which can possibly be fixed by a hair restoration surgery.
At Harley Hair Transplant Clinic, London, we conduct certain study groups to gain experience and more importantly skill and command over the offered treatments and keep advancing by practicing with newer technology that hits the sack. And these practices have resulted in greater benefits as per not only making Harley Hair Transplant Clinic one of the best in the UK.
Hair transplant surgeries before did not garner as perfect and natural results as they do now and a corrective surgery is performed on those patients who wish to correct the outdated plug transplants with the modern day progression of hair restoration to natural results.
As with the strip harvesting technique larger pieces of hair grafts or hair plugs containing 10-20 hair follicles where placed, a corrective surgery uses techniques like hair camouflaging or a combined repair tactic to further harvest, dissect and redistribute the hair grafts according to a more naturalistic pattern.
Graft Excision of hair plugs – Abnormally planted hair plugs or mini-grafts need to be removed from the recipient area by means of a number of thought process usages of instruments and tactics. Usually with the large grafting there is wrong placement issues wherein the hair grafts are too thick and the place between the two grafts to narrow, sometimes the scalp epidermis must be cut through the plugs to extract them. Once the larger grafts are extracted then they are as usual placed under a stereo microscope, dissected into 2-4 hair grafts and redistributed to the recipient area. If there is a depleted supply of sufficient donor hair after the whole procedure, then more donor hair can be extracted with FUT or FUE as according to the required amount and aided with an ideal resulted. Sometimes, if the graft placement is not as abnormal then a hair camouflage is performed to partly excise the larger grafts while hiding the smaller grafts to avoid transection prone from large graft excisions.
Hair Camouflage – Camouflage is the technique where small follicular units, or micro-grafts, are placed immediately in front of the larger grafts to hide them, or improve their appearance by making the hairline softer and more natural. At one time, it was felt that most of the old plug or mini-micro-grafting hair transplant procedures could be corrected by simply using camouflage techniques to hide the unsightly grafts. The problem with this method is that if the larger grafts are too close to the frontal hairline, if they are located in the crown, or are simply pointing in the wrong direction, camouflage alone will not correct the problem. Camouflage also cannot correct hair lines that have been transplanted too low on the forehead. Adding additional grafts to an area that has not first been properly corrected can compound the problem by making this area even more unnatural and by wasting precious donor hair.
A previous strip harvest hair transplant surgery can leave a widened obvious scar which is repaired under modern facilities and the FUE technique to hide the scar off and further add hair density in the same area. Hair follicles are harvested from ideal zones of the scalp or body and planted directly in and around the scarred zone.
